A few days ago when we were taking our daily walk we came across this sign. It took us - and many other people - rather by surprise. During the restrictions you are only allowed to do the 40-minute circular walk around our local lake, Lützelsee, in a clockwise direction.
In fact the beautiful weather and tighter restriction on Lake Zürich had been drawing people from far afield to get their much-needed exercise here, and it was getting hard to keep your distance from other people. By getting everyone to walk around in the same direction (and banning cycling), it made it a lot easier. Everyone? Not quite everyone complied. We watched some people read the sign and then proceed to walk in an anticlockwise direction anyway. Were they being deliberately rebellious? Or, in this age of digital watches, did they just get ‘clockwise’ wrong?
